Is It Time To Stop ‘Falling Back?’ Sleep Experts Say Yes – WVXU
Posted: Published on November 5th, 2020
Whether we're "falling back" or "springing forward," anyone with children or pets - or frankly, a well-tuned internal clock - will tell you, that first day is usually a doozie. It even has a name: "social jet lag." The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) says it's time to put daylight saving time to bed. "When you have a miss-alignment between the timing of your own body clock and what the rest of the world wants you to do, they call that 'social jet lag.' You didn't get to fly to Europe or go anywhere but you get the negative effects," explains Ann Romaker, MD, with the UC College of Medicine Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine and the director of the Sleep Medicine Center at the UC Medical Center. Novel Cardiac Patch Could Help Treat Myocardial Infarction Effectively – AZoM
Posted: Published on October 31st, 2020
Written by AZoMOct 29 2020 In the past few years, heart disease has been the major cause of death around the world, reports the American Heart Association. When a heart attack, or myocardial infarction (MI), occurs, a blocked artery and the consequent oxygen deprivation result in extensive cardiac cell death, inflammation, as well as blood vessel impairment. Scientists have now reported in ACS Biomaterials Science & Engineering about a new cardiac patch with small, engineered blood vessels that enhanced recovery from MI in rats and pigs Continue reading
