The Environmental Educators of North Carolina are pleased to announce that Blair Ogburn, senior naturalist and education coordinator at the Balsam Mountain Trust at Balsam Preserve in Jackson County, is the winner of the 2010 Outstanding Newcomer Award from The Environmental Educators of North Carolina. Ogburn serves on the EENC Board as the education chair and is being recognized for creating new outreach and education displays for EENC. Each year EENC publically recognizes environmental educators, EENC members, organizations, and partners for their valuable contributions to environmental literacy, the field of environmental education, the EENC organization, and environmental well being of North Carolina. Ogburn has been an active member of the organization and plans regional gatherings, which bring educators in WNC together for professional enrichment. NEW YORK, May 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Online advertised vacancies dipped 45,700 in May to 4,714,800, according to The Conference Board Help Wanted OnLine (HWOL) Data Series released today. The Supply/Demand rate stands at 2.6 unemployed for every vacancy. In May the number of unemployed was 7.7 million above the number of advertised vacancies compared to 10 million above in the fall of 2011. "After rising 564,000 over the last five months, labor demand dipped in May. Despite this drop, strong employer demand has created growing opportunities for both job-changers and the unemployed and has also helped significantly lower the unemployment rate," said June Shelp, Vice President at The Conference Board. In May over half of the 50 States are now posting advertised vacancies that are above their pre-recession highs. The largest gains were in the Midwest with Michigan up 53 percent from its pre-recession high. Other Midwestern States with increases above 40 percent include North Dakota (46%), Indiana (44%), and Ohio (41%). MANCHESTER, N.H. - A woman stole a bottle of oxycodone from a supermarket pharmacy in Manchester on Friday morning, police said. Manchester police said a clerk at the Osco pharmacy inside the Shaw's supermarket on South Willow Street said that a woman showed a note demanding drugs and implying she had a weapon. The woman made a motion to her waistband, indicating she was armed, but the clerk didn't see a weapon, police said. The clerk handed over a bottle of oxycodone pills, and the woman left, police said. The robber was described as a short, white woman with a heavy build. She was wearing a red baseball cap, sunglasses, a dark, hooded sweatshirt and light grey sweatpants. She had dark hair that was possibly long but pulled up under her cap.
