Dunedin police officers indicate the direction in which a man fled after the alleged aggravated robbery of Forbury Pharmacy. Photo by Peter McIntosh. Police were called to Forbury Pharmacy, near Forbury Corner, Dunedin, after a man allegedly threatened three staff members before tying them with masking tape, and leaving the premises with cash and prescription medicine just after 5.30pm. He was later pepper-sprayed following a short pursuit on foot, which ended in Ruskin Tce, where he allegedly threatened police. Pharmacy owner Kim Wallis told the Otago Daily Times the incident was "almost identical" to the July robbery. "It felt like Groundhog Day." In that incident, a knife-wielding man entered the pharmacy at 5.25pm and herded staff into a back room before running off along Ruskin Tce with some prescription drugs. Mrs Wallis said both robberies occurred at closing time and she was near the front door - but obscured from the alleged robber's line of sight when he walked to the counter. "I saw him before he pulled down his balaclava and informed staff it was a hold-up." A man demanded Ritalin in both robberies, and also took cash in the most recent incident. POMEROY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A pharmacy technician is in jail after investigators say she admitted stealing hydrocodone from the pharmacy where she worked. Stacy A. Hawk, 33, of Middleport, Ohio, is charged with possession of drugs. The Ohio State Board of Pharmacy says Hawk was arrested Thursday after Pomeroy Police found prescription drugs inside her vehicle Following Hawks arrest, the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy, Middleport Police and Meigs County Sheriffs Office, searched her residence in the 600-block of Grant Street. Agents say they found prescription drugs, weapons, and drug paraphernalia in the home. They also say Hawks boyfriend, Tony Robinson, 36, who was at the home during the search. Robinson was arrested for trafficking in drugs and possession of drugs. The Ohio State Board of Pharmacy began their investigation immediately after receiving information from he Pomeroy Police Department that Fruth in Pomeroy, where Hawk worked, was experiencing significant losses of hydrocodone tablets. Stacy A. Hawk, 33, of Middleport, was arrested by the Pomeroy Police Department after prescription drugs were found inside her vehicle. According to Jesse Wimbley, Public Information Officer with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy, Hawk worked at Fruth Pharmacy in Pomeroy. Hawk was booked into the Middleport Jail on felony charges of possession of drugs Thursday. Following Hawks arrest, the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy, assisted by the Middleport Police Department and the Meigs County Sheriffs Office, served a search warrant on Hawks residence in the 600 block of Grant Street in Middleport. The search warrant yielded the recovery of prescription drugs, weapons, and drug paraphernalia from the home. Health Report says pharmacies act like drugmakers with fewer consumer protections. A consumer watchdog group is calling on the U.S. Food & Drug Administration to re-inspect more than a dozen compounding pharmacies with prior violations including one in Utah. University Pharmacy in Salt Lake City is among 16 pharmacies in 15 states issued warnings by the FDA since 2003 for safety lapses that merit revisiting in light of a recent meningitis outbreak tied to compounded drugs, says the Washington, D.C.-based group Public Citizen. More online The warnings "reveal a thriving [drugmaking] industry ... being carried out under the guise of compounding," the group wrote on Thursday to FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg. Public Citizen obtained and released the warnings to contradict the FDAs claim that it lacks authority to regulate specialty pharmacies like the Massachusetts-based compounder blamed for meningitis-tainted injections that have killed 36 people and sickened more than 500. The New England Compounding Center had been investigated three times by the FDA and was issued a warning in 2006, a congressional inquiry found.
