Forbes Discusses Stem Cell Research – Video
Posted: Published on October 13th, 2011
Congressman Forbes discusses the Patients First Act, HR 877, which would intensify research and human clinical trials using stem cells that are ethically obtained and that show evidence of providing near-term clinical benefit for human patients. Additionally, the legislation would promote the creation of pluripotent stem cell lines without the creation, destruction, or discarding of human embryos Read the original post: Forbes Discusses Stem Cell Research - Video … Continue reading

Bruce Conklin: Drug screening with stem cells – Video
Posted: Published on October 13th, 2011
One possible use for pluripotent stem cells is to screen drugs for toxic side effects. The idea is that researchers could grow those stem cells into mature cell types such as heart, liver, or brains cells, expose them to new drugs or potential environmental hazards, then look for toxic side effects.
