OMICS International Conferences invites all the participants from all over the world to attend '6th World Congress on Cell & Stem Cell Research during February 29-March 02, 2016 in Philadelphia, USA which includes prompt keynote presentations, Oral talks, Poster presentations and Exhibitions Track01:Stem Cell The most well-established and widely used stem cell treatment is thetransplantationof blood stem cells to treat diseases and conditions of the blood and immune system, or to restore the blood system after treatments for specific cancers. Since the 1970s,skin stem cellshave been used to grow skin grafts for patients with severe burns on very large areas of the body. Only a few clinical centers are able to carry out this treatment and it is usually reserved for patients with life-threatening burns. It is also not a perfect solution: the new skin has no hair follicles or sweat glands. Research aimed at improving the technique is ongoing. Embryonic stem cell research: an ethical dilemma | Europe’s …
Posted: Published on July 12th, 2016
A human embryo can split into twins or triplets until about 14 days after fertilization Egg and sperm: some people believe an embryo must be fully protected from conception onwards (Wellcome Images/Spike Walker) Human blastocyst on the tip of a pin: embryonic stem cells can be grown from cells found in the blastocyst (Wellcome Images/Yorgos Nikas) Some people think an embryo deserves special protection from about 14 days after fertilization Many patients could one day benefit from embryonic stem cell research The rules controlling embryonic stem cell research vary around the world and have been the topic of much discussion Embryonic stem cell research poses a moral dilemma. It forces us to choose between two moral principles: In the case of embryonic stem cell research, it is impossible to respect both moral principles. To obtain embryonic stem cells, the early embryo has to be destroyed. This means destroying a potential human life. But embryonic stem cell research could lead to the discovery of new medical treatments that would alleviate the suffering of many people. So which moral principle should have the upper hand in this situation? The answer hinges on how we view the embryo. Does it have the status of … Continue reading

Posted: Published on July 12th, 2016
Stem Cell 100 is designed to rejuvenate your body and slow the aging process to help you feel and function more like a young person. This can help you feel better, look younger and improve your health. Most of the cells in your body lose function with age. Everyone has special cells called adult stem cells which are needed to repair damaged and old tissues, but adult stem cells themselves are also aging. Until now there was not much you could do about it. Stem Cell 100 rejuvenates adult stem cells and their micro-environments with the proprietary SC100 formula. Stem Cell 100+ is a more powerful and faster acting version of the same nutraceutical. Developed by experts in the anti-aging field, patent-pending Stem Cell 100 is the only supplement proven to double maximum lifespan of an animal model. No other product or therapy including caloric restriction even comes close. Harness the Power of Your Own Stem Cells Millions of people suffer from chronic conditions of aging and disease. By Thomas E. Stone, ND, CNHP In 1995, an article in Scientific American concluded that traditional disease fighting methods were not effective in fighting the HIV virus and AIDS. Instead, this author recommended that we focus on finding ways of stimulating the immune system and reducing the viral load. Colostrum can be very effective in both of these ways. Colostrum stimulates and strengthens a weakened immune system and those who take it on a regular basis, have a heightened ability to resist and fight infection exactly what the AIDS patient needs. Colostrum activates or turns on the immune system in the newborn and it can do the same thing for the AIDS patient or anyone, for that matter. It contains over 40 different immune factors which work in harmony to support a stronger defense mechanism. This is so critical for the AIDS patient, who dies not from the HIV virus but from secondary infections which the immune system is no longer able to control. One of the immune components in colostrum falls into a category called immunoglobulins. These are functional antibodies, ready to combat a host of bacterial pathogens. In this way, colostrum can actually be a sort of secondary … Continue reading

Post navigation As regular readers of this blog know, one of my hobbies is gardening and I like to bring a scientific perspective to the garden. This year in my garden Ive planted a whole bunch of tomatoes including unusual and fun varieties. Little did I know that a giant tomato enemy would arrive. More on that in a bit. Below is a plate of the ones I picked today including the blue one Dark Galaxy and the funny pointy-tippedyellowcherry ones called Barrys Crazy Clusters, which in both cases are from Wild Boar Farms, a local place known for creating amazing new tomatoes (). Note that big Celebrity tomato on the right that weighed nearly a pound. Returning from the big ISSCR stem cell meeting in SFO I found my vegetable garden doing pretty well despite the constant near-100 degree temps weve had in the Sacramento-Davis area for weeks. The heat has been nearly unrelenting and remarkably both on the way to and from San Francisco there were two brush fires going both directions that mucked up traffic. This doesnt bode well for the fire season. My tomato plants looked a bit thirsty despite sprinklers and some watering by the … Continue reading

Novartis Pumps $15M Into Israeli Stem Cell Research Firm …
Posted: Published on October 19th, 2015
The Swiss drug maker Novartis will invest an extra $15 million in Gamida Cell, an Israeli developer of stem cell therapies, Gamida said. Novartis last year invested $35 million in the company for a 15 percent stake, the Tachles Jewish weekly of Switzerland reported this week. The deal could reach $600 million if Novartis exercises a buyout option that expires in 2016. The $15 million investment will be used to advance Gamida Cells clinical programs, including the development of an experimental treatment for patients with high risk hematological malignancies, or blood cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma and sickle cell disease. Gamida plans to initiate a Phase III clinical trial with NiCord in mid-2016, according to Reuters. Novartis will not have rights or options to Gamida Cell products or technology under the terms of the agreement. Other Gamida shareholders include Israeli firms that have been the subjects of politically motivated divestment by European business, including Elbit Imaging and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries. I thought the TED Talk on stem cell research with Susan Solomon was very boring and was hard to watch. I think that she made some good points about stem cells, and showed how significant they could be in helping to solve different diseases in the future, but I dont think she was enthusiast enough for a TED Talk. I also do not think she did a good job explaining whatstem cells were, orhow they work. She did show different graphics to help explain her points, but I do not think an audience who had little background on the subject would be able to follow the pictures. Unless the entire audience were experts on the subject, I think they would have a very hard time following the presentation. Stem cell research is a very complicated topic, and I dont think this speaker did a very good job of explaining the topic, orkeeping the audience engaged. Although I did not enjoy the TED Talk, I did think the 60 Minute documentary was interesting. I was very surprised that there are people who are selling stem cells online, and when the cells reach the United States, they are dead and harmful to … Continue reading

What is Wrong With Embryonic Stem Cell Research?
Posted: Published on October 12th, 2015
Introduction Are conservatives more concerned about a tiny clump of cells than the suffering of their fellow human beings? Is embryonic stem cell research (ESCR) really the cure-all for countless diseases? If you haven't kept up with the science involved in ESCR, this paper will jump-start your knowledge of the issues. Embryonic stem cell research is a hot topic that seems to pit anti-abortion conservatives against pro-abortion liberals. The conservatives claim that there are better alternatives to embryonic stem cells, while the liberals claim that conservatives are blocking research that will provide cures to many tragic diseases. Much of the rhetoric is designed to muddy the waters to invoke emotional responses of those within each camp. This paper is designed to break through sound-bites and go the heart of the matter - what are the scientific issues that impact the question of stem cell research. Much of what is promoted as being news is actually an oversimplification of the issues. Many news articles about stem cell research never distinguish between the kind of stem cell research that is being promoted. For example, the media often reports of breakthrough treatment for patients without mentioning that, in all cases, the source of … Continue reading
