Seedless Vascular Plants Biology – University of Hawaii
Posted: Published on April 24th, 2022
OpenStaxCollege [latexpage] By the end of this section, you will be able to: The vascular plants, or tracheophytes, are the dominant and most conspicuous group of land plants. More than 260,000 species of tracheophytes represent more than 90 percent of Earths vegetation. Several evolutionary innovations explain their success and their ability to spread to all habitats Continue reading

Vascular Plant: Definition, Examples, Structure | Biology …
Posted: Published on April 24th, 2022
Vascular Plant Definition A vascular plant is any one of a number of plants with specialized vascular tissue. The two types of vascular tissue, xylem and phloem, are responsible for moving water, minerals, and the products of photosynthesis throughout the plant. As opposed to a non-vascular plant, a vascular plant can grow much larger. Continue reading

Seedless Vascular Plants Seedless vascular plants, which reproduce and spread through spores, are plants that contain vascular tissue, but do not flower or seed. Evaluate the evolution of seedless vascular plants The vascular plants, or tracheophytes, are the dominant and most conspicuous group of land plants. They contain tissue that transports water and other substances throughout the plant. Continue reading

This Blood Group Is At A Higher Risk of Heart Attack - Check If You Are Safe Written by Satata Karmakar | Updated : April 21, 2022 11:00 AM IST Heart attacks are one of the leading causes of death globally. From a child to an older adult, almost all the age groups fall into the 'at-risk' category for developing this condition. However, a recent study has revealed that there are certain blood groups that are directly associated with the risk factors for a heart attack Continue reading

Study Points to Causal Role for Lp(a) in Atrial Fibrillation – Medscape
Posted: Published on April 24th, 2022
Although lipoprotein(a) is causally related to coronary artery disease and aortic valve stenosis two known risk factors for atrial fibrillation (AF)evidence linking Lp(a) to a causal role in the development of AF has been lukewarm at best. A recent Mendelian randomization study showed only a nominally significant effect of Lp(a) on AF, whereas an ARIC substudy showed high levels of Lp(a) to be associated with elevated ischemic stroke risk but not incident AF. A new study that adds the heft of Mendelian randomization to large observational and genetic analyses, however, implicates Lp(a) as a potential causal mediator of AF, independent of its known effects on atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) Continue reading

Phylum Echinodermata | Biology for Majors II
Posted: Published on November 5th, 2021
Learning Outcomes Echinodermata are so named owing to their spiny skin (from the Greek echinos meaning spiny and dermos meaning skin), and this phylum is a collection of about 7,000 described living species.Echinodermataare exclusively marine organisms. Sea stars (Figure1), sea cucumbers, sea urchins, sand dollars, and brittle stars are all examples of echinoderms Continue reading
