Denver, CO (PRWEB) March 07, 2014

Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) will host a free, comprehensive, one-day CARD Colorado Autism Conference on treating individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The event will help parents and caregivers of children with ASD learn about effective intervention solutions, strategic methods to address challenging behaviors and techniques to acquire insurance funding for autism treatment. Speakers include world-renowned autism expert and CARD founder and CEO Doreen Granpeesheh, PhD., BCBA-D, CARD chief strategy officer Dennis Dixon, PhD, and CARD director of contracts Bryce Miler. The conference will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2014, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at The Summit Conference and Event Center in Aurora, Colo., located at 411 Sable Blvd. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided. Attendees must register by March 27, 2014, at conference.centerforautism.com.

Attendees will learn about effective, individualized treatment programs for individuals with ASD that maximize skill acquisition and minimize challenging behaviors, with a focus on providing useful strategies that can be implemented in real-life situations. The conference will also cover insurance funding for autism treatment and allow attendees to ask questions to the panel of experts.

We are excited to bring valuable resources to the many families in Colorado that are in need of effective treatment solutions, said Dr. Doreen Granpeesheh, PhD, BCBA-D. This conference will provide parents and caregivers access to the information that will help individuals with autism reach their fullest potential.

Colorado is one of the 33 states that now mandate coverage for behavioral therapies for the treatment of autism, and this conference will help parents understand how to access that coverage. The conference will provide valuable information about the Colorado mandate, the benefits that insurance companies are required to cover, and information about provider networks, pre-authorizations, and claim filing.

ABA is the only scientifically validated treatment for ASD, and research shows it is most effective when delivered early and at a high level of intensity. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in every 88 children in America is diagnosed with ASD, making it more prevalent than pediatric cancer, juvenile diabetes, and pediatrics AIDS combined.
