Hospital receives cardiology award

Doylestown Hospital was one of the 256 hospitals that was awarded the American College of Cardiology's NCDR ACTION Registry GWTG Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2014.

This award is in recognition of the hospitals heart attack care and their commitment to success in implementing a higher standard of care.

In order to receive this award, hospitals need to consistently follow the treatment guidelines in the ACTION Registry GWTG Premier for eight consecutive quarters and meet a performance standard of 90 percent for certain performance measures.

Local ambulance corps receives national certification

Cetronia Ambulance Corps was recently awarded a national re-accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services.

The award was given for its compliance in meeting national standards of both organizational and clinical excellence in the ambulance service industry. Cetronia Ambulance is one of six agencies that achieved this level of excellence, less than one percent of over 17,000 EMS agencies nationwide.

This was the second re-accreditation process Cetronia Ambulance has gone through to maintain its high standards. The focus isn't only on patient care, but organizational policies and procedures, operational and administrative functionalities and relationships with other agencies.

Grant awarded to Lehigh County Conservation District

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection gave a $3,000 to the Lehigh County Conservation District to install a rain garden in the courtyard at Orefield Middle School.
