Play for JOA-Dodgeball can serve as a bonding experience as well as a community service project for sports team, families or friends. Join today for only $5 per person and enjoy running around with friends and meeting new ones.

The Play for JOA-Dodgeball event will take place on Saturday, March 29th from 4-7 p.m. at the North Royalton Fieldhouse located at 10701 Royalton Rd in North Royalton.

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (Duchenne) is a fatal progressive disorder that causes loss of muscle function and independence, affecting mainly young boys. John Owens Adventure Inc. (JOA) is dedicated to discovering a treatment, improving research and establishing education and awareness programs about DMD for all individuals who are affected by this disease.

DMD is 100% fatal and typically only affects boys. A very tiny part of the boys X chromosome was deleted. This deletion makes it impossible to build muscles because the message build dystrophin never gets to the brain. Eventually, all of the muscles in the body will breakdown making it impossible to walk, eat and breathe. Soon after that the little heart muscles will breakdown as well and many will be forced to say goodbye well before John Owen and other DMD boys have fully enjoyed their 20s. One in 3,500 boys has DMD. For more information on JOA visit http://www.joainc.org or call 440-230-1555.
