The Department of Chemistry of Einstein College of Engineering, Tirunelveli, organised a conference on Advanced research trends in Chemistry recently, which was sponsored by Board of Research in Nuclear Science, Mumbai (BRNS). A. Amudhavanan, chairman of the college, who presided over the inaugural function, stressed the importance of chemistry in the fields of engineering and medicine. The chief guest S. Subramanian, Senior Researcher, Linnaeus University, Sweden, explained the new research trends in biomedical science. E. Rajalakshmanan, Professor, Department of Biomedical Sciences, Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai, B. Jebasingh from Department of Chemistry, Karunya University, Coimbatore, V. Rama, Head, Department of Chemistry, Sarah Tucker College, were the speakers.

More than 70 research scholars and students presented research papers.

A one-day workshop on Essential skills for excellence in career was conducted by the Department of English, Thiruvalluar College, Papanasam recently. R.S. Arulanandam, former Controller of Examinations, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University and former Professor of Englilsh, St. Johns College, Palayamkottai, inaugurated the workshop and gave a lecture on Employability skills for the enhancement in careers and B. Manivannan, Associate Professor, V.O.C. College, Tuticorin gave a lecture on Communicative skills. About 110 students and 17 professors from various affiliated colleges of MSU participated in the workshop.

A seminar on students participation in quality enhancement of higher education and sustenance was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) V.O. Chidambaram College, Tuticorin, on March 11.

S. Senthilnathan, Deputy Coordinator, Department of Education Technology, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchi, who delivered the keynote address, spoke on aspects of students participation in improving the quality of higher education.

He cited colleges in India which had successfully carried out activities in achieving the holistic development of the students in higher education.

C. Veerabahu, Principal, in his presidential address, spoke on various parameters outlined by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and the importance given to the students participation in higher education.

Venkatraman Kumar, former NAAC Coordinator of the college, and Vice President of Seaweed Research and Utilization Association, spoke.

Earlier, A. Nellai Murugan, IQAC Member-Secretary, welcomed. John Prince Soundaranayagam, Associate Professor in Physics, proposed a vote of thanks. Students, research scholars and professors from 10 colleges in and around Tuticorin presented papers.

A national-level seminar on Ethical violation of current media was organised by the Department of Electronic media of Narayanaguru College of Engineering at Manjalumoodu in Kanyakumari district recently. S. Arul Selvan, Associate Professor and Head, Centre for Electronic Media and Communication, Pondicherry University, was the chief guest.
