(OXFORD) Dr. Dennis Bonner, 63, of Oxford died Jan. 4, 2021, at UAB Hospital of Birmingham.

A graveside service will be Tuesday, Jan. 12, at noon at Skyview Memorial Cemetery in the Welch community with the Rev. Calvin Trammell officiating. The procession will begin at 9:30 a.m. from the home of Dr. Bonner at 64 Thornwood Rd. in Oxford.

Calling hours from 1 to 6 p.m. at Goodson Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 11.

He was born Feb. 24, 1957, in Roanoke to Charlie Barsh Sr and the late Carrie Bradshaw Daniel. He was raised in the Roanoke/Welch area and a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Roanoke. He graduated from Five Points High School in 1975. He earned a medical degree from Vanderbilt School of Medicine and completed his residency at Emory University. He completed his cardiology fellowship at the University of Florida. He specialized in interventional cardiology and practiced at Anniston Cardiology. He was affiliated with Regional Medical Center and Stringfellow Hospital of Anniston.

Dr. Bonner is survived by his wife of 21 years, Vanessa A. Bonner; three sons, Patrick M. Bonner, Robert A. Bonner (Analia Carrosco) and Jonathan E. Bonner; granddaughter, Madison Lee Bonner; father, Charlie Barsh; stepmother, Julia Barsh; brothers, Luther Bradshaw, Nathan Bonner, Marshall Bonner, Charlie Barsh Jr. and Israel Barsh; sisters, Novelette Collins, Margaret Pringle and Jessie Ruth Barsh; stepbrothers, Dr. James Daniel and Wilburn Daniel; stepsisters, Deborah Cannon and Janis Daniel; and aunt, Beatrice Esters.
