DNA In Spotlight At Cal Harris Murder Trial

Jurors learn the results of DNA tests performed on bloodstains found in the Harris home as the third trial of Cal Harris enters week number six.

The Town of Spencer man charged with the death of his estranged wife Michele who disappeared in September 2001. No body or weapon has ever been found.

Monday Former New York State Police DNA Analyst John Brenner told jurors that the DNA profiles of the blood stains found in the garage and the kitchen alcove area of the Harris home matched DNA found on a tooth brush taken from the apartment of Brian Earley.

Now, Prosecutors argue that the DNA on that tooth brush belonged to Michele Harris as Brian Earley testified to earlier in the trial.

Additionally Brenner testified that staining found on a throw rug from the kitchen alcove area also matched DNA from the tooth brush.

Brenner told jurors that after viewing the results of the DNA testing he can safely exclude Cal Harris and the Harris children as contributors to those stains.

He also pointed out that the probability of someone having that same DNA profile is less than one in 280 billion.

Social Security Administration Special Agent Michael McCole also took the stand today testifying that 2001 was the last time that wages were reported for Michele Harris' Social Security Number.

Testimony is set to continue Tuesday morning at 9:15.
