Jesus Borrero, 47Paramus Police Department

PARAMUS A DNA match led to the arrest of a 47-year-old Bronx man in a car burglary more than a year ago near the borough court, police said Thursday.

Jesus Borrero, who was already in custody in New York state on unrelated offenses, was charged Dec. 2 with burglary to auto and theft for stealing airbags from a Honda Accord parked on Carlough Drive Oct. 2, 2013, according to police. The airbags were valued at $1,500.

Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said in a statement that DNA was collected from inside the car and the match came recently at the state police lab. It was not immediately clear how the genetic material was left behind.

Though the car was parked near the court, Borrero was not scheduled for a hearing there, the chief added.
