Dr. Mark Glasgold is pleased to announce his recently authored study, evaluating the use of Puregraft autologous fat grafting systems. The peer-reviewed paper was published in the July 2014 edition of Aesthetic Surgery Journal. Notable co-authors of the report include Dr. David J. Gerth, Dr. Bethany King, Dr. Lesley Rabach, and Dr. Robert A. Glasgold.

The research compares graft retention rates using Puregraft technology with the historical findings on centrifuged process grafts, previously completed by the same authors. A total of 26 graft patients (52 hemifaces) were followed over a 17-month span. The results found that Puregraft patients had a significantly higher graft retention rate, at 41.2%, as compared with the 31.8% rate for centrifuged grafts.

Puregraft uses an advanced filtration system, removing the cell-damaging free lipids and white/red blood cells. This process decreases contamination, improving the grafts retention rate. Dr. Glasgold explains, "Fat grafting has long been criticized for its unpredictable rates of retention. Puregraft helps to address this shortcoming and performed better when compared to traditional methods of processing."

The FDA approved Puregraft system provides surgeons with confidence in efficacy, as well as efficiency. Adipose tissue can be safely purified for reinjection in 15 minutes or less; graft areas can include the face, body, and breasts. Puregraft technology is already used in hospitals and clinics around the globe. It has been used successfully in more than 30,000 cases.
