DrugRisk Yaz Update: France To Investigate Another Bayer Drug Over Blood Clots

The resource center has added warnings for the Bayer drugs Yaz and Yasmin from experts like the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, who stated that birth control pills containing drospirenone may have a higher risk for blood clots.*

DrugRisk also discovered that thousands of patients in the U.S. have filed a Yaz lawsuit over blood clots, which have been consolidated in a special federal Multi-District Litigation court in Illinois.** Bayers most recent financial statements show they have spent as much as $750 million so far for 3,500 Yaz settlements, at an average of nearly $214,000 per case.***

The resource center recently added a warning from Frances Health Ministry that they will stop reimbursing for contraceptives like Yaz and Yasmin in March over concerns of blood clots, and have launched an investigation into their safety.****

Now, DrugRisk has learned that regulators with Frances ANSM will also investigate the Bayer drugs Diane-35 and Dianette after several blood clot deaths. The drugs, which are used for both contraception and acne treatment, are authorized in 135 different countries.*****

Anyone who suffered a blood clot, DVT, stroke or Pulmonary Embolism after taking Yaz or Yasmin is urged to contact the Drug Risk Resource Center or speak with a lawyer about their legal options.

The Drug Risk Resource Center cautions victims who wish to learn about their legal options that they should seek a lawyer with experience in defective drug litigation, and only recommends lawyers and law firms who have already settled Yaz lawsuits. While there has been no official Yaz recall, patients are urged to speak with their doctor about possible side effects.
