Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Treatment and Rehabilitation in Mumbai, India He is a known case of MD with history of gradual onset of progressive lower extremities muscle weakness since the age of 5 years with complaints of frequent falls while walking and difficulty in getting up from floor. His weakness progressed and he stopped walking since 6 months. He even developed upper extremities weakness with difficulty in overhead activity. Neurologically, he is hypotonic and hyporeflexic. On examination: he has grade 2 muscle power in bilateral lower extremities and grade 3 #713; in bilateral upper extremities with proximal muscle weakness more than distal. He has no family history of MD, but has consanguineous marriage between parents. Functionally, he is dependent for most ADL and mobility. On Brooke scale he scores 3. On Vignos scale he scores 8. On FIM he scores 59. After Stem Cell Therapy 1) Rolling in bed is independent now. Previously he needed support for this. 2) Now he can walk for 10 minutes with push knee splints and high boots and one person assistance. 3) His stamina has increased. 4) Weight has increased. 5) Bilateral TA contractures have reduced. 6) Now he can come to sit in 50% of range by himself (earlier independent, secondary to increase in weight). 7) FIM score remains the same. 8) Pinch 0 to 0.8 right 0 to 0.5 left 9) Father reports that he is energetic and fresh. 10) Calf and deltoid Pseudohypertrophy has increased.
