Speaking of Dr. Herman, her time with Arizona is rapidly running out. Suffering from an inoperable brain tumor, Dr. Herman entrusted Arizona to keep her diagnosis a secret and serve as her protege. Risking the chance to learn everything she can from the world famous surgeon, Arizona oversteps and orders Dr. Hermans medical records under Amelia Shepherds name.

Already betraying Hermans trust, Arizona is met with a surprise diagnosis from Shepherds unsolicited consult; Amelia believes she can remove the tumor.

Derek is officially answering the call of POTUS and is on his way to Washington, D.C. The final episode of 2014 pitted Meredith and Derek against each other, this time over how to handle a patients care. Up until that case their bickering was kept behind closed doors, at home, or, and perhaps the worst, masked behind silent glares.
