Fire at Lloyds Pharmacy in Tiverton
The Fire Service received calls to a shop on fire at Lloyds Pharmacy in Market Walk on Saturday 16 February at around 6:20pm. Two fire appliances from Tiverton attended. Upon arrival, fire crews requested a third fire appliance from Cullompton as the building was heavily smoke logged. Fire crews forced entry into the property and confirmed a fire involving a two storey shop measuring twenty metres by fifteen metres. Fifty percent of the ground floor was damaged by fire and the remainder of the ground floor was severely damaged by smoke. The first floor was also slightly damaged by smoke. Fire crews extinguished the fire using six breathing apparatus wearers, two hose reel jets and two thermal image cameras. Fire crews ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
