Former Ohio first lady Hope Taft has been reappointed to the state board that regulates the licensing of counselors and other professionals who work to treat and prevent drug and alcohol abuse.
Republican Gov. John Kasich this week reappointed Taft to the Chemical Dependency Professionals Board. Her new term on the 13-member board runs through December 2015.
Taft is the wife of former Gov. Bob Taft, also a Republican. She promoted drug prevention efforts during her husband's tenure leading the state and has been active in other groups with that goal.
The board says she is a certified prevention specialist. She also serves on the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention National Advisory Council and leads a nonpartisan group of governors' spouses who support efforts to reduce drinking among youngsters.
