Pittsworth woman Lauren Thompson (right) and her family will hold an epilepsy fundraiser event on Saturday after the condition killed her sister Kelly (left).
PITTSWORTH woman Lauren Thompson knows first-hand how epilepsy can have a devastating effect on families.
The condition killed her 28-year-old sister Kelly on November 14 last year and now Miss Thompson's family wants to raise money to help others with epilepsy.
She said Kelly started showing symptoms of epilepsy only 12 months before she died after having a seizure while in bed.
"I still don't believe she is gone." Miss Thompson said.
"We want people to be more aware of epilepsy and we want to raise money to help find better treatment.''
Miss Thompson and her family will hold a sausage sizzle in front of the polling booths at the Pittsworth Community and Technology Centre from 8am on Saturday.
Voters will be able to buy food and drinks as well as Epilepsy Queensland promotional items.
