The Glen Ridge boys basketball teams success this season relied a lot on the chemistry its three sets of brothers brought to the table.

Julian and Max Thompson, Jack and Dave Weissenberger, and Ryan and Tyler Liddy all brought a family mentality to this years squad. The fact that this was one of the best seasons the program has had shows that chemistry goes a long way.

"Being on the court with my brother made it easier to know where everyone else on the court was," said Julian, one of the teams senior captains. "It was helpful because we played together for a long time. I knew which passes he can catch, his speed ability and when hed be open."

"Were all friends outside of the team as well," said senior Jack Weissenberger, who was also a captain along with Julian and Zach Thomas. "We hang out and get lunch together all the time. Its especially good with players like Julian and Max because we grew up playing basketball with them since middle school. So its all about being comfortable with your teammates and knowing all their ins and outs."

Max, Julians brother, is a sophomore and David, Jacks brother, is a freshman. The teams youngest pair are the Liddy brothers. Ryan is a sophomore while Tyler is a freshman.

"The chemistry of all the brothers together did us well," said Ryan. "If that chemistry can carry over next year, well be able to keep it up for the future."

The three younger brothers all had a special experience. When the person you look up to on the court is the same person you look up to at home, things seem to go a lot smoother.

"It was good because Jack pushed me harder than he did compared to the other kids," said David. "And thats a good thing."

"Being a captain, your expected to be a role model," said Jack. "But having your brother there means you want to be a role model even more so and set an example for the other players."
