FLORENCE, S.C. Dr. Joe L. Griffin Jr., owner of Advanced Dental Center in Florence was honored by Francis Marion Universitys Department of Biology with an outstanding alumni award Tuesday evening.

Griffin received the Lawrence Swails Award during a reception Oct. 21 on the FMU campus. This distinguished alumni award was named after the second chairperson of the FMU Biology Department. This is the ninth year the Biology Department has given this award to an outstanding graduate of the biology program.
