Hormone replacement should be ‘last resort’ option

Women with hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms were treated for decades with hormone therapy, including Premarin (Estrogens) and Provera (a synthetic version of Progesterone). Premarin was derived from the urine of pregnant horses which contained over 200 different chemicals that are foreign to the human body.

Now we know that these drugs caused cancers, blood clots, cysts in the breasts, problems with memory, heart problems and more. More and more, people are looking for an alternative to using drugs as hormone replacement therapy. Many are turning to bio-identical hormones as that alternative. Bio-identical hormones are derived from either soybeans or wild yams. The human females body normally makes its hormones from cholesterol in the body, so it doubtful that bio-identical hormones from plants are identical to human hormones. So are they safe?
