NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A Nashville judge has dealt a stunning blow to HRC Medical, the Franklin based hormone replacement company first exposed in a NewsChannel 5 investigation late last year.

On Friday, Judge Amanda McLendon put HRC and its assets under the control of a court appointed attorney.

This comes after the Tennessee Attorney General sued HRC earlier this year for making unsubstantiated and misleading claims about its bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. HRC had claimed that its treatment was safe, did not pose any cancer risks, and had no to minimal side effects. The judge ordered HRC to stop making these claims and to warn consumers of the possible risks and side effects.

"We are pleased with the court's ruling," Attorney General Cooper said, "and urge any consumer who has taken HRC's alternative regimen of 'bio-identical' hormone replacement therapy to contact his or her health care provider about any potential adverse health effects from the therapy as soon as possible."

The case is still slated to go to trial. The judge said in her order that based on the evidence she heard, it's highly likely the Attorney General would win.
