Jazz coaches and players believe team chemistry has improved this year

SALT LAKE CITY A common word Jazz players have used during the preseason is chemistry, with several saying the team chemistry is better this year.

When Jazz coach Quin Snyder was asked about it Wednesday, his eyes lit up. Hes happy to hear that his players feel the team's chemistry is stronger.

It starts with the organization at the top with the Miller family and is something that is valued, that character counts, Snyder said. (General manager) Dennis (Lindsey) and his staff have tried to be conscious of fit when theyre putting a team together. Its not just character, but theres a lot of ways to create chemistry.

Snyder said hes noticed strong chemistry on the court between Trey Burke and Derrick Favors; Burke and Gordon Hayward; and Trevor Booker and Hayward. And even some of the new players are fitting well together already.

Look what you see with Dante Exum and Rudy Gobert, Snyder said. I dont think we drafted them as an international connection, but some of those things have worked their way through where guys have fit and thats also a credit to Dennis. Obviously for us as a staff its to try to figure out a way to use guys together and thats something were still learning about with combinations.

When asked what has been most impressive about the team so far, Burke said, I think its just the way our chemistry has grown as a team. Its a new coaching staff with new pieces added to the team and our chemistry is growing each and every day.

It starts in practice, instilling habits as a team, and off the court going out to eat and spending time with each other,'' Burke added. "Weve got a lot of guys on this team who are easy to get along with and hold each other accountable, so well just continue to build from here.
