Kids Institute for Development and Advancement (KIDA http://www.KIDA.com), an integrated center for the treatment of autism and other special needs in Orange County, today announced the appointment of Dr. Barbara J. Moore as its Executive Director and Vice President of Administration. In this capacity, Moore will serve as both Clinical Director for KIDAs clinical activities and as the Principal for KIDA's Academic programs.
Moore has had a distinguished career in the field of Special Education over the past two decades. During past 7 years she has been Director of Special Youth Services in the Anaheim Union High School District overseeing all special education programs. Trained and nationally recognized as an expert speech language pathologist, she has authored and coauthored numerous articles and a text book on Speech and Communication. Dr. Moore is also an adjunct faculty at Chapman University and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

About Dr. Barbara Moore: Dr. Moore received her B.A. in Communication Disorders and Linguistics from California State University, Fullerton, her Masters Degree in Communication Disorders from Whittier College, and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. She is an ASHA Board Recognized Specialist in Child Language with extensive administrative and program experience in public education. Along with Dr. Judy Montgomery of Chapman University, Dr. Moore has coauthored Making A Difference for America's Children: Speech-Language Pathologists in Public Schools (2nd ed.) as well as the START-IN, a response to intervention program. Dr. Moore serves as part-time lecturer at Chapman University and California State University, Long Beach in the departments of Communication Sciences and Disorders, teaching courses in school issues and child language.
Dr. Moore currently sits on the Board of Directors of ASHA, as the Vice President of Planning (2011-2013). She has served ASHA and related organizations, including serving as president of the California Speech-Language-Hearing Association (19971999). Dr. Moore is an ASHA Fellow and is a recipient of the Honors of the California Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
