To stay the hands of time, a growing number of people here are choosing non-invasive options over surgery.

And increasingly, it is those in their 30s, and even, 20s, who are asking for these procedures to slow down the ageing process, say doctors.

There are several reasons non-invasive methods, such as laser treatments, botox injections and fillers, are attractive to younger people.

Although less effective than surgery, they are far easier on the wallet. A non-invasive facelift costs about $2,500, while a surgical facelift could set you back by more than $25,000.

They are also not as big a step to take. Younger patients may not be ready to permanently alter their appearance through surgical means. Finally, the procedures require little or no downtime and do not interfere with work commitments.

However, doctors recommend that patients do regular treatments to maintain the effects. How long effects last depends on many factors, including how well a patient cares for himself.

Behind the growing demand is a different approach to ageing: Young adults say making small tweaks now to maintain how they look is an investment for the future.

In the West, the top trends in aesthetic medicine include non-invasive body-contouring procedures, as well as combination therapy, such as botox injections, dermal fillers and eyebag removal, according to the International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine in the United States.
