GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT)-- This December, a Montrose crisis center has seen more and more patients come in, which is why the staff there want to combat the mental health stigma this holiday season.

The Center for Mental Health Walk-in Crisis Center in Montrose is open every day even on Christmas.

While the holidays are a joyful time for most people, for others it can be hard.

The Center for Mental Health in Montrose saw more people in their walk-in crisis center this December compared to past visits -- some people coping with suicidal thoughts, and others with things like depression.

Now, they want to remind people of the resources available like their 24-hour walk-in crisis center.

"Don't second guess yourself about asking for help. I think some people think oh my problems aren't bad enough or there's other people that need help more than me, says Chief Executive Shelly Spalding.

The Walk in Crisis center in Montrose opened in September. Since then theyve seen over 100 patients.
