An agreement has been reached between the Town of Thayne and the Lincoln County Commissioners regarding use of the gym in the Star Valley Community Complex. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Lincoln County Commissioners this month. The MOU is for one year of use relating to Thaynes recreational programs. The document outlines that due to the public benefit of the Thayne recreation programs, [the] county will not charge rent to Thayne for Thaynes use of the building. The county will provide an operable gymnasium building for recreational activities such as basketball and volleyball, the MOUstates. The county will generally maintain and clean the Star Valley Community Complex, including maintenance and repair of the plumbing and light fixtures. The county will provide regular snow removal services of the parking areas and walks as the county is able. However, the Star Valley Community Complex may not be the countys highest priority for snow removal. The agreement further outlines that the county will not supply any equipment such as balls, uniforms, whistles or other such equipment that may be necessary to carry out the recreational activities.

The county will maintain general liability insurance with limits of coverage as defined in the Wyoming Governmental Claims Act. Town of Thayne responsibilities, as outlined by the MOU are to visually inspect the portion of the premises to be used by the town to ensure that the building is safe for the towns intended use.

Town employees are the only individuals allowed to use keys to the facility during recreational activities.

Upon completion of the towns use on any given day, the town shall turn off all lights and clean up any trash or spills in the portion of the premises used by the town, the document reads. The town shall further visually inspect the portion of the premises used by the town, including bathrooms, to ensure that there are no water leaks, broken fixtures or other conditions that require immediate attention.

Under the agreement the Town of Thayne is required maintain general liability insurance with limits of coverage as defined in the Wyoming Governmental Claims Act.

The town is also solely responsible to adequately supervise events sponsored by it at the Star Valley Community Complex.
