Young and restless ... Mondo Rock in the early days.

Mondo Rock are getting back together for their first tour in 24 years to perform their Chemistry album live.

Chemistry, released in 1981, was the Australian rockers second album and reached No.3 on the charts.

Mondo Rock were originally formed in 1976 by ex-Daddy Cool singer-songwriter Ross Wilson.

Getting back together with the original Chemistry era Mondo Rock members, I imagine, is like when war veterans get back together, you had to be there, no one else understands kind of thing, said Wilson, 66. And then when we do reunite, well raise all kinds of musical hell.

The album Chemistry produced the hits State Of The Heart, Cool World, Chemistry and Summer of 81.

State of the Heart, written by Eric McCusker, also reached No.22 in the US in 1985 for Rick Springfield, who performed the song at the historic Live Aid concert.

The 2014 Mondo Rock line-up will feature original members Ross Wilson, Eric McCusker, James Black and Paul Christie and The Aztecs drummer Gil Matthews.

Tickets for the tour go on sale from February 21.
