Neuralstem CEO, Richard Garr, To Participate In Traumatic Brain Injury Panel At BIO International Convention

ROCKVILLE, Md., April 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --Neuralstem, Inc. (NYSE MKT: CUR) announced that CEO and President, Richard Garr, will take part in a comprehensive Bio Maryland panel, introduced by Lt. Governor, Anthony Brown, on Maryland's leadership in traumatic brain injury prevention, diagnosis and treatment at the BIO International Convention in Chicago, Ill., on April 24. Mr. Garr's panel, from 2:30 3:30, will discuss "TreatmentWhat's Working and What is Under Development." He will focus on NSI-189, Neuralstem's lead neurogenic compound, which is currently in a Phase Ib clinical trial in major depressive disorder (MDD). In animal models of depression, NSI-189 significantly increased the generation of new neurons in the hippocampus, a part of the brain that atrophies in patients who have major depression and which could also be implicated in brain injury. Mr. Garr will also talk about the potential of NSI-189 to be used in the treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI).
