New Hope Fertility study shows benefits and success rate of Mini-IVF treatment

A recent, first-of-its-kind study from New Hope Fertility Center shows that, compared to traditional IVF techniques, Minimal Ovarian Stimulation or Mini-IVF with frozen single embryo transfer offers distinct advantages for patients; most notably, the technique decreases the likelihood of multiple pregnancies and completely mitigates the risk of Ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome, a condition that can cause adverse symptoms and life-threatening complications. The study found high success rates with Mini-IVF treatments performed at New Hope Fertility Center: out of patients treated with the minimal stimulation protocol, 51 percent remained pregnant after 12 weeks. With conventional cycles in which 1.75 embryos were transferred, New Hope Fertility Center achieved a birth rate of 66 percent; this rate surpasses the national average, which is 43 percent, as well as the rates reported at leading IVF centers across the country.

This study was the first of its kind to directly compare Mini-IVF treatment to conventional protocols; in the past, one Dutch study compared a minimal stimulation IVF treatment to traditional IVF, but the minimal stimulation protocol was significantly different from New Hope Fertility Centers Mini-IVF protocol. According to Dr. John Zhang, founder and medical director of New Hope Fertility Center, the studys large sample size, the inclusion of an ethnically diverse patient population, and the relatively low participant withdrawal rate all support the strength of the studys findings. Zhang stated, We can now say that Mini-IVF approaches are likely to result in less treatment burden for patients, especially as it relates to cost. Pregnancy rates were lower among Mini-IVF patients than patients who received traditional IVF treatments, with respective rates of 51 percent and 66 percent, but this difference can be explained with the higher rate of embryo transfer employed during conventional IVF treatment; it does not necessarily suggest limitations in the Mini-IVF protocol. Between the two techniques, the rates of live birth per embryo transferred were comparable; the unwanted side effects of traditional IVF constituted the primary difference between the two methods of fertility treatment.
