The book, Big Data Analytics in Bioinformatics and Healthcare, about electronic medical records management explores biology, technology and medicine. She wrote it with her son and her former doctoral adviser, William Perrizo, on the 10th anniversary of her son's emigration from China to join her in the United States.

Age: 50

Family: Son, Ruowang John Li, a Ph.D. student in Bioinformatics and Genomics at Penn State.

Residence: Waynesburg

Occupation: Wang is a computer science professor at Waynesburg University. Her research areas include data mining, data storage, bioinformatics and parallel computing.

Background: She returned to China in 2003 because efforts to bring her son here had stalled. Perrizo intervened and helped Wang and her son return to the United States.

Education: Wang earned a Ph.D. in computer science from North Dakota State University, a master's degree in art from St. John's University in Minnesota and a master's in computer science from Minnesota State University of St. Cloud.
