Co-response program pairs behavioral health clinicians with police officers

Friday, at approximately 5:44 p.m., a manwanted on several criminal chargesbarricaded himself in a home in the 2900 block of East College Avenue. In addition to utilizing a tactical team within the Boulder Police Department a mental health clinician fromthe EDGEProgramresponded to the sceneto assist police negotiators.

Shortly after 11 p.m., James Patrick Cush (dob 6/24/94) was taken into custody without any force.Hewasmedically cleared and taken to the Boulder County Jail for Second Degree Assault, 3rd Degree Assault, Criminal Mischief, Reckless Endangerment, and a warrant for Domestic Violence.

Out of an abundance of caution, 117 community members living in the area received an emergency notification to shelter in place.
