Little battler Brecon Vaughan set off yesterday for a life-changing op in the US thanks to the generosity of a Pride of Britain marvel.

Brecon, six, boarded a flight bound for St Louis where he will undergo pioneering treatment in a bid to enable him to walk.

The schoolboy, who has cerebral palsy, was booked in for the expensive surgery thanks to an astonishingly selfless act from a complete stranger, Daniel Black.

Daniel, 26, was left paralysed after breaking his back in a cycle accident in 2009.

He began raising cash that he hoped to use to help himself walk again.

But when he heard about Brecons plight, Daniel gave every penny he had collected a whopping 22,000 to the lad.

Before the flight left Heathrow airport yesterday, Brecons dad Rob, 44, said: It is remarkable to think we are actually going. It will be everything we have hoped for.
