The noise alone was enough to generate a feeling of nausea. As Raul Jimenez lay prone on the ground after a sickening clash of heads with David Luiz, blood drained from the faces of everyone in the stadium. There was panic, shock and solemn concern.

As several players immediately waved their arms to signal the severity of the incident, captain Conor Coady and Leander Dendoncker crouched by Jimenezs side.

Coady later said: I was at the front, just behind him, so I jumped, and you heard it. As they dropped, he was on his side, and it was important we kept him on his side and got the doctors on.

When you see them drop and theyre not really responding, it becomes horrible.

Jimenezs concerned team-mates tried to keep busy, their minds surely split in two by worrying about their friend and yet somehow trying to stay focused on the task at hand: the futility of playing a football match. On the touchline, Nuno...
