Saudi- Epilepsy forum set in Dammam

(MENAFN - Arab News) King Fahd Specialist Hospital Dammam will host the 7th Annual Epilepsy Forum from Apr. 10-11 at Sofitel Al Khobar.

The hospital is organizing the event in collaboration with the Saudi Epilepsy Society (SES), the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE), the Saudi Chapter of Epilepsy, and the Commission on Eastern Mediterranean Affairs. International speakers and experts at the forum will discuss a number of issues concerning epilepsy, such as the science of the disease, the latest therapeutic methods in addition to a series of informative topics to educate epilepsy patients and their families about the nature of the disease. Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Shaibani, CEO of King Fahd Specialist Hospital Dammam (KFSHD), said.

"The forum on epilepsy aspires to fulfill KFSHD's vision and strategic objectives of improving both the overall quality of medical education and the community health awareness. In addition, the event will facilitate the exchange of scientific and medical expertise and develop the scientific intellectualism in all medical fields, specially the field of the epilepsy, in which KFSHD Neuroscience Center has provided the latest and most advanced therapeutic and surgical services to its epilepsy patients. The center receives more than 3,000 epilepsy cases every year. "

Dr. Raidah Al-Baradie, chairwoman of the epilepsy forum and an epilepsy consultant at the hospital, highlighted the importance of this forum. "The forum will discuss mesial temporal lobe epilepsies (MTLE) as a main topic in addition to discussing the concepts and pathophysiology of MTLE; clinical characteristics of MTLE; clinical and experimental neurophysiology and treatment of MTLE."
