There are many reasons to smile and give a cheer to people across the Tiverton area this week.

Whether it has been a charity fundraiser or a good deed, there is lots going on to celebrate in our community.

Bampton mum sports autumn colours

A mother from Bampton, Devon, is hoping to raise funds for her son Eddie, and has completely overhauled her hairdo to help.

Lowri Weston is aiming to raise funds for eight-year-old Eddie so he can have a lifechanging operation to help him walk again unaided.

Eddie has cerebral palsy currently walks with a walking frame and tripod sticks but has been told that without an operation and specialist physiotherapy, he could lose his ability to walk.

Get your pumpkins pimped out

It's not just Eddie's mum who has been doing good things for Bampton!

Bampton CofE Primary School pupil Lillymay Keating was inspired to help classmate Eddie when she heard about his battle with cerebral palsy.

Lillymay is hoping to raise more money for the family by holding a virtual pumpkin decorating competition.

Three friends cycle 225 miles

Three friends are cycling 225 miles to raise awareness of functional neurological disorders (FNDs).

On Sunday, September 27, Ryan Allington, Craig Allington and Luke Fisher started their bike ride from Tiverton, Devon to raise funds for FND FrieNDs.

FND is a medical condition where there is a problem with the functioning of the nervous system and how the brain and body sends and or receives signals. Its symptoms include limb weakness, paralysis, seizures, and difficulty walking.

Brave mother runs 34.5 miles

Newly elected chair of the Bickleigh School Association (BSA), Cat Down took on Storm Alex's challenging conditions on Sunday, October 5, raising funds for Bickleigh on Exe Primary School.

She ran the hilly catchment route of the school, comprising an elevation of 4,759ft, in 6 hours and 42 minutes.

It is part of a fundraising initiative the BSA has set up to help cover the estimated 4000 cost of a new library.
