GOLFERS could win $1 million while raising money to fight a genetic disease next year.
The St George ATS Inaugural Community Golf Day on February 22 will raise money for the Friedreich Ataxia Research Association and the St George Foundation.
Funds are raised by sponsoring a hole for $5000, which will give golfers the chance to win a share in $1 million.
St George Queensland retail banking head Ross Gillam said people would have a day on Queensland's top rated golf course and raise money for charity.
"By sponsoring a hole on the day you will be doing good twice," he said.
You'll be making a huge difference to the lives of Aussie kids and also supporting crucial medical research for a crippling and incurable disease.
The St George Foundation helps Australian children who are physically, socially or economically disadvantaged while FARA funds research into Friedreich Ataxia for which there is currently no treatment or cure.
Friedreich Ataxia, believed to affect about 1 in 50,000 people in Australia and New Zealand, is a degenerative, genetic, neurological disease that appears predominantly in children and teenagers.
It causes difficulty walking, talking and performing everyday functions and soon leaves sufferers wheelchair bound.
