The emerging field of personalized medicine may lead to a significant paradigm shift in the way patients are treated. Personalized medicine means that physicians will use an individual's clinical, environmental, and genetic information to make decisions about the type and use of therapies for any given condition or disease. For example, since each person's genetic makeup is different, each will react differently to a certain type of treatment and will require different doses.
