Step By Steps Outreach Program helps individuals with autism generalize and maintain skills taught during day services in the natural environment.
Worthington, Ohio (PRWEB) April 02, 2013
The goal of the outreach program is to empower families with the knowledge they need to promote the maximum amount of growth and success for their child. The Step By Step Outreach Program offers support to staff and professionals involved in the consumers case, including, but not limited to, developing comprehensive behavior plans and training.
The outreach program helps to generalize and maintain skills taught during day services in the students natural environment, participating in Step By Steps center-based behavioral intervention services. The service is identified as a medically necessary treatment for these students, as it relates to the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The Step By Step Outreach Program is being offered as a response to the growing level of need in the local and surrounding communities and the request from parents for additional support to maintain the consistency of learning for the student.
Because the mission of Step By Step is to help children with autism develop skills needed to excel within the community, in their families and in life, providing treatment services to students and additional support in the home and community environments is a natural extension of the services we currently offer, said Michele LaMarche, BCBA, founder and executive director of Step By Step.
In some cases, behavioral intervention services for students with autism were not readily available in the areas of the state in which families reside, and families recognized the importance of obtaining behavioral intervention services for the student.
For more than a decade, Step By Step has served children, teens and adults throughout the greater Columbus, Ohio, metro area.
