TCU is participating in the Shriners College Classic this weekend, one of the marquee early-season tournaments in the country. But while a stacked field certainly makes the baseball intriguing, there is much more to being a part of this event than what happens on the diamond.

The Shriners College Classic is one of the primary fundraisers for the Shriners Hospitals for Children, an organization that specializes in the treatment of Orthopaedics, Burn Care, Spinal Cord Injury, and Cleft Lip and Palate, regardless of a familys ability to pay.

Prior to heading to Houston for the Classic, members of the TCU Baseball program got to share a special day with one of the Shriners patients, Strother Norman, who has been receiving treatment for spinal cord injury since 2012. Strother is a North Texas native who received the majority of his treatment at the Shriners Hospital in Chicago after an accident led to paralysis from his chest down.

You can support the Shriners by attending the games this weekend or make a direct donation here.
