RORY Sutton was sidelined with an Achilles injury when Ipswich Force last played - and lost to - Rockhampton.

It was early in the season and the new-look Ipswich Force team was still finding its proverbial feet.

With another shot at Rockhampton in a more important match tonight, the Force vice-captain is hoping his team's chemistry and depth proves the difference.

"I've been a bit slowed down by injuries and so forth but with our team this year, it hasn't hurt us at all," Sutton said preparing for his first QBL semi-final.

"We are really deep and we have a great bunch of guys.

"We're all mates away from basketball. We all hang out. We watch movies.

"We're a closeknit bunch of guys. That makes it easy as well."

Sutton, 24, is vice-captain of the Force men's side having joined the Ipswich program last year coming from NSW.

He has formed a leadership partnership with captain Zarryon Fereti, hoping to capitalise on last weekend's encouraging quarter-final victory over Bundaberg.

"I think we've done quite well and we go up there this week and hopefully more to come," Sutton said.
