The iconic Golden Gate Bridge was a fitting backdrop for the 2014 meeting of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery a specialty whose members bring together science and art to erase years off the face and sculpt shapely new contours on the body. Surgeons at The Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery presented their trailblazing procedures and research at the San Francisco conference, which showcased some of the brightest minds and ideas responsible for shaping and revolutionizing the industry.

There is currently so much innovation in plastic surgery and technology that it is very exciting to be close to the leading edge, said Dr. Rolando Morales, who, as the newest and youngest of the five surgeons at ACPS, has quickly become a rising star in the field.

His presentation comparing the best safety-promoting strategies for body contouring procedures was featured at one of the most popular conference venues, Premier Global Hot Topics, and went on to receive the spotlight as one of four out of 45 talks chosen for the Best of Hot Topics session, attended by hundreds of plastic surgeons across the country.

I consider it as the only course that really matters at the entire meeting because the future of plastic surgery lies in the innovation of technology, safety and surgical techniques, said Morales.

In addition to this honor, two of Dr. Morales scientific abstract posters were selected for the Scientific Exhibits meeting venue, including one highlighting the control of postoperative discomfort following breast augmentation surgery.

ACPS surgeon Dr. Henry Mentz contributed his expertise at the conference as well, teaching a course on 3-D body contouring, including Abdominal Etching, the now widely-performed liposuction technique he invented to define the muscular six-pack on the male abdomen. It was an encore role for Mentz, who has spoken on Abdominal Etching and his Brazilian Butt Lift technique for multiple years at ASAPS conferences.

Mentz and Morales were joined by their ACPS colleagues Dr. Christopher Patronella and Dr. German Newall at the annual event, which draws plastic surgeons from around the world for the rich array of information and training it provides on emerging techniques, innovations and safety in plastic surgery.

Established in 1996, The Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery is one of the largest private cosmetic plastic surgery practices in Texas. Guided by the mission to provide exceptional aesthetic results and premier customer care, the group has contributed numerous surgical techniques and safety strategies that have advanced the art and science of plastic surgery.
