King Archer Jeron Teng kept mum about the possible additions to the defending champions roster for the upcoming FilOil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup and the UAAP, and stressed that team chemistry is key in their quest to repeat as UAAP men's basketball champions.

The Archers, who earned the championship with only 13 players last year, lose veteran point guard LA Revilla, while Yutien Andrada returns from an ACL injury to join Robert Bolick, Luigi dela Paz, Kib Montalbo, Jason Perkins, Gabby Reyes, Matt Salem, Oda Tampus, Thomas Torres, Norbert Torres, Arnold van Opstal and Almond Vosotros. Aside from homegrown player Prince Rivero, Teng remained tight-lipped about the possible additions to the team's roster.

"Actually madaming magagaling," said Teng when asked about possible standouts from their rookie class. The incoming junior also added the the team doesn't feel much added pressure, coming in as defending champions.

"We dont think about it. We're just hungry for more," Teng said. "Laging sinasabi samin ni Coach Juno [Sauler] is to not think about the results. Play the game lang."

Teng also added that NCAA Juniors MVP Rivero from La Salle Greenhills will share his position at small forward, while alternating at the power forward spot:

"I think my position and power forward. Magaling si Prince and I'm excited to see how he plays in FilOil."

Last UAAP season's Finals MVP also shared that he is working on improving on his shooting in preparation for La Salle's title defense:

"[I'm working on] my outside shooting and especially my freethrow shooting."

The influx of new players also means that the Archers need to work on chemistry, more than anything, to have a chance to repeat as champions.

"Every player has to improve on something. We're just trying to improve our team chemistry because there are a lot of people coming in," Teng said. - AMD, GMA News
