Once again, Nicholas Sparks is bringing his signature romantic stylings to the big screen with The Longest Ride, in theaters Friday. Starring Scott Eastwood and Britt Robertson as what else? star-crossed lovers, the movie joins a long line of Sparks movies crafted precisely to make the heart ache.

While the jurys still out on The Longest Ride, history has taught us that the fate of a Sparks adaptation can depend largely on whether its leads mesh like peanut butter and jelly, or conversely, if they mesh like peanut butter and turkey.

So lets rank, from worst to best, the stars chemistry in each of Sparks movies.

Before she was Piper Chapman, Schilling was busy trying to muster a bit of interest in the kid from High School Musical.

This movie made it very clear that the only woman Duhamel should be focusing on is Ms. Fergalicious and that the only thing Hough should be paid to portray is the part of reality TV dancer.

The first adaptation of a Sparks novel places its characters in a dynamic that feels dated and inauthentic, something the actors cant overcome.

It wasnt that the films two big stars didnt have any sexual tension between them its just that they were far outpaced by the heat between their younger counterparts, played by Luke Bracey and Liana Liberato.

Both stars have had considerably better chemistry with other screen partners, but theres an honest simplicity between the two that makes it work.

The story may be lame, but theres clear energy between the two charismatic stars playing broken people.

It feels so wrong, but theres no denying the instant click between Cyrus and Hemsworth, who, despite seeming to have nothing in common, dated for years.
